It will be SIDF’s 11th edition in year 2025 and will be carried out for 5 days.

The festival is open to all kinds of dances, traditional or contemporary, for all-age group and of all races and cultures, both locally and internationally.

Sibu International Dance Festival (SIDF) was first initiated and organized by Hornland Dance Theatre in Sibu, Malaysia. In year 2012, it launched its first debut concert with the acknowledgement and support of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), Malaysia.

It is aimed to be held as an annual event during mid-term school holiday of the second half semester of Malaysia in the largest town in the central zone of Sarawak, Sibu, which is located next to the Rejang River, the longest river in Southeast Asia.

SIDF is dedicated to presenting a world-class celebration of dance arts by creating timeless and adventurous productions that stimulate arts education, foster economic growth, and unite dancers and audiences.

It is organized to bring together all dance performers from within and outside of Malaysia on the stage of Sibu, Sarawak to showcase performances of vast cultures, genres and arts. Every year, the event consists mainly of dance concert, outdoor performance, workshop and seminar.

Every year, we bring in 150–200 people including dance artists, choreographer, musicians, lighting and sound designers, photographers, videographers and costume/makeup designers.

The past SIDF dance group participants were about 130 groups in total and hailed from these countries/regions:

Throughout the years, 21 dance groups returned to participate for the second time, and 6 groups had joined SIDF for three times and more.

The 11th edition of SIDF will be held in 16 – 20 September, 2025. The components of the festival:

The activities of the festival extend from indoor stages to outdoor stages, and even onto the corners of the streets. It aspires to draw and encourage more people to join the festival and be more directly and personally involved with the performers and their performances.

SIDF also aims to become the world platform for artists and arts organization on local, regional and international levels to exchange dialogs, concepts, experiments, explorations and display the diversity of dances, and of course, to facilitate the development of tourism, arts and culture in this region through this event.
