Sibu International Dance Festival returns for third edition
SIBU: The third Sibu International Dance Festival (SIDF) will be held from June 3 to 7, featuring 18 international troupes.
Organised by Hornland Dance Theatre and initiated by Sibu Municipal Council, the event made its debut in 2011 and since then, has enjoyed great success.
Last year, participants even included a dance group from Lithuania.
“So far, 18 countries have confirmed their participation, among them are Ghana, South Africa, United States, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong. For Malaysia, we have groups from Sarawak, Sabah, Johor and Kuala Lumpur,” said festival director Chen Ing kuan yesterday.
The five-day SIDF will start off with a welcoming party at RH Hotel on June 3, followed by outdoor performances at Riverside Park (June 4) and a dance seminar at RH Hotel (June 4-6, from 9.30am to 11.30am daily ). On June 4-5, a dance workshop will also take place in the afternoon at the same venue.
“There will also be three nights of performance at the Civic Centre with different nightly acts,” said Chen, adding that there would be a special early bird’s rate for tickets to the three-night shows
“Tickets booked before April 30 will enjoy a special price of RM20 per night, down from the original price of RM25 per night.”
